Minecraft Hack News: Hackers Publish Hundreds of Minecraft Login Details

A German website reported a hack of the game "Minecraft," which revealed hundreds of login details.

According to the reports, a total of 1,800 usernames and passwords of the game were published on the site Pastebin. If virtual criminals can access the information, they may use it to get into the players' accounts and alter game settings or purchase items in the game store.

Most of the accounts are owned by German "Minecraft" players. Tech analysts say that the hackers may have performed "simple phishing attacks" or "keylogging malware" to acquire the information illegally. Another possibility is a "security breach" may have occurred in the game.

Game owner Microsoft released a statement and said that developer Mojang.net was not compromised. The company followed the usual protocol of resetting the passwords of the hacked accounts. Once the list of usernames and passwords has been discovered, the company immediately responded by assessing the records and resetting the accounts.

"Minecraft" has a total of over 100 million registered accounts and although the hacked list is just a small number, it can still create chaos. The hackers can purchase the full game without authorization and spread spam emails or malicious software plus hack more accounts. In addition, the hackers who released the list may have more in store.

The game was created in 2009 by Mojang and Microsoft bought it on September for $2.5 billion. Microsoft's decision to purchase the game was a good move since it increased their profit up to 79 percent based on December 2014 data.

There are 18,301,295 players who purchased "Minecraft" and the numbers are still increasing. When the number was being recorded, another 10, 552 gamers bought the game in just 24 hours. The report is just for PCs and Mac computers and still does not include Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, iOs and Android sales.

Interested gamers can purchase "Minecraft" in its usual price of $26.95.
