Huawei Honor 5X May Be Huawei's First Entry Into U.S. Market
Chinese OEM Huawei has long been eyeing the U.S. market and if reports are true, the Consumer Electronics Shows (CES) 2016 may very well be the venue where the company will mark its entry into the huge U.S. market. According to a report in Tech Times, the subsidiary brand Honor has already sent out invitations to an event before the CES 2016, where it may announce the Honor 5X as their first smartphone for the U.S.
No less than Honor's Global President George Zhao said in recent statements that they are planning something for the CES 2016. He was quoted as saying during a company event, "The United States market is the highest end market for Huawei, so we have been planning for a very long time." He adds, "The International CES is planned for January, as you know, so you should expect to hear more about our United States plan at that time."
The company has already issued invitations to the press for a pre-CES 2016 party where they said they will make "the announcement of creative and smart technology that will offer superior mobile internet experiences to digital natives all over the world."
Reports are also pointing to the introduction of a smartphone called the Honor 5X, which will be the company's first product for the U.S. market. The smartphone has already been made available in China in October. The Honor 5X is considered a mid-ranger and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset, with either 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM. The phone's internal storage is 16 GB, which is expandable via a microSD card. Its main rear facing camera is a 13 megapixel shooter, while its selfie camera is a 5 megapixel one.
The specifications listed above are that of the model that was released in Huawei's home market so it may also be possible that Honor may change things up a bit for their U.S. release. The Honor event will be held on January 5, at 8 p.m., one day before the CES 2016, which is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
