Jet Crash Kills 5 After Crash-Landing in Georgia
A jet crash has killed 5 in Georgia after overrunning the runway during it landing. The jet did not stop in time and slammed into a wooded area off the end of the runway, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
Authorities have confirmed that 5 people died in the crash, which took place just after 8 p.m. local time on Wednesday night. Two others were also injured in the crash and were rushed to a local hospital in nearby Augusta.
A "Go Team," consisting of a team of investigators, were sent out from Washington D.C. on Thursday morning on their way to the crash site at the Thomson McDuffie-Regional Airport, west of Augusta, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
The flight, a Hawker Beechcraft 390/Premier, had taken off from Nashville, Tenn. but crashed at the Georgia airport on landing.
Thomson-McDuffie County Sheriff, Logan Marshall, has said the identities of those killed were being withheld pending notification of family members, according to The Associated Press.
