'Reign' Season 3 Spoilers: Queen-on-Queen Battle Drama Ensues (VIDEO)

"Reign" Season 3 has recently been announced for a fall premiere, and spoilers have been emerging over the dual queen battles in the show.

A new trailer for "Reign's" Season 3 was released Friday, showing Mary (Adelaide Kane) encountering a number of difficulties plaguing her leadership, with speculations of an upcoming royal battle in the offing.

Mary continues to insist England remains a threat and she may have a point as Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) is seen as drawing her formidable will around herself and not letting any obstacles get in her way.

However, Mary still holds the right to the throne, posing a danger to Elizabeth's aspirations. The building tension is likely to lead to a battle between the two strong women as to who will eventually rule the realm.

Catherine (Megan Follows) enters the picture to pose another threat to Mary's authority and it appears both women will stop at nothing to reach their goal. With Francis (Toby Regbo) in the wings waiting to lend Mary a hand and boost her up to grab the ruling power, the question remains whether she will succeed, and whether the other alliances she makes will be effective at holding Elizabeth and Catherine back.

Audiences can expect sword fights to occur during the premiere episode, which is likely to lead to even more fighting as new characters make their appearances in Season 3 to add more twists to the royal drama.

Mary's mother will also make another appearance, which will lead viewers to question how Mary de Guise (Amy Brenneman) can be of help to her daughter as she is dying herself.

Elizabeth will also find added complication as Robert Dudley enters her life, throwing her into a love triangle amidst all the political machinations happening around her.

"Reign" Season 3 is expected to return to The CW on Friday, October 9 at 8pm EST.
