Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra Rumors: Premium Model With 4K Display to Launch in Q1 2016?

Rumors have emerged that Sony isn't completely done with its Z flagship line and it is unveiling the Xperia Z5 Ultra with 4K display by the first quarter of next year.

With Sony's Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium recently launched at the 2015 Berlin IFA, the Japanese tech giant appears to have another ace up its sleeve in the form of a premium Z model, the Xperia Z5 Ultra, that it is reportedly launching in March 2016.

Featuring a larger-than-usual 6.44-inch screen with a 684 ppi 2160 x 3840 resolution, the smartphone is rumored to be equipped with the world's first 4K display. It is also reported to be equipped with the new high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset that is expected to be launched late this year, making it one of the first smartphones to sport the upcoming processor.

With the size of the Z5 Ultra's display, it is likely to get the same reviews the Xperia Z Ultra received when it made its debut in 2013, with users complaining the latter's 6.4-inch screen made it impossible to fit into pockets.

A slightly larger 6.44-inch screen on the Z5 Ultra places it within a hairline of tablet threshold, which is likely Sony's intention if it is planning to create a middle ground between handheld device types.

Packed with 4GB of RAM, the Xperia Z5 Ultra will be sporting a 23MP rear camera, with the phone big enough to fit the 4,000mAh battery it is rumored to have to keep the power running as long as possible.

The Xperia Z5 Ultra launch date has been pegged for March, which falls right after the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona scheduled from February 22 to 25 next year. As the MWC is considered to be the biggest mobile trade show for the first quarter of the year, rumors have also emerged Sony may decide to unveil the Z5 Ultra during the expo instead.
