'The Good Wife' Season 6: Episode 19 Recap 'Winning Ugly'

On last Sunday's episode of "The Good Wife," Kalinda's actions land Diane in hot water and Alicia was asked to step down as state's attorney by Democratic National Committee chairman Frank Landau.

On "Winning Ugly," Andrew Wiley knows that Kalinda faked the metadata, and that has serious repercussions not only for Kalinda, but also for Diane because she used it as evidence in court. Wiley meets with Diane and he tells her that before he submits his report, he's going to give her a chance to make a statement. Diane never knew that Kalinda faked the metadata, so after he leaves she goes straight to her to confront her about the metadata.

Diane tells David and Cary about it, and David says that the only way for Diane to avoid jail time is if they come clean to the Police Review Board.

Kalinda and Diane go with Finn and David as their respective lawyers, and they admit what they know about the metadata and they clear Detective Prima's name. Upset, Prima goes to see Geneva Pine to tell her that he was framed.

Geneva meets with Diane's team to offer them a deal: the outgoing states attorney will drop all charges against Diane if she testifies against Lemond Bishop.

Meanwhile, Ken Boxer meets with Eli to tell him a new development in the election fraud investigation—a microchip has been found in the 12th precinct and it was programmed to override votes. Eli says he has nothing to do with this, and later, he also tells Alicia that they didn't do it. He tells Alicia to meet with Frank Prady to persuade him to stop the recount.

Martin Parillo arrives on behalf of Prady. Parillo says that he intends to prove that Alicia cheated in the election.

Alicia and Marissa go to meet DNC chair Frank Landau, and he refers them to Spencer Randolph, a civil rights lawyer who agrees to represent Alicia.

They plead their case to the election board, and Parillo says that Peter all but guaranteed Alicia's victory in an interview.

Kalinda offers to help Alicia, and it turns out the microchip's technology was from 2012, so Randolph surmises the chip may have been used in Peter's gubernatorial race.

Now, it's clear that Randolph wants to go after Peter to take the spotlight off Alicia, but Alicia and Eli tell him that they don't want to incriminate Peter, and Randolph agrees.

Later, Landau tells Alicia that although he knows that she didn't cheat, he wants her to step down as state attorney. He assures her that he'll make it up to her in the future, but Alicia insists that she wants to be state attorney now. Landau threatens to destroy her and the governorship if she doesn't play by their rules.

Peter tells Alicia to call Landau's bluff and continue with Randolph at the panel. But before the panel announced the decision, Randolph interrupts and says that Alicia has been lying during the proceedings and that the voting machines were hacked under her direction. He tells her to step down from the position.

"The Good Wife" airs on Sundays at 9/8c on CBS.
