'The Last Of Us 2' Rumors And Speculations - Developers Tease Sequel

Rumors about "The Last of Us 2" have been doing their rounds on the internet these past months. Fans of this game want a sequel to "The Last of Us" in 2013. With no expectations at all, "The Last of Us" became a topper against all predictions and has secured for itself a huge fan base that is clamoring for the sequel.

"The Last of Us" was developed by Naughty Dog and released by Sony in 2013. The game is an action adventure game in the survival-horror genre of games. Players have to play as Joel, a man whose mission is to escort a young girl, Ellie across the bombed-out post-apocalyptic landscape of America. Players play the character of Joel from a third-person perspective.

Speculations about "The Last Of Us 2" started when the voice actor for "The Last Of Us," Nolan North, hinted that "The Last of Us 2" was in the pipeline during the Metrocon held in Tampa, Florida.

Next game developer Naughty Dog themselves dropped hints that their team is working on a sequel.
There was a report released by vcpost.com that talked of a possible plotline for the sequel.

Speculations are rife that the main character, Joel, could be killed off and it is now left to Ellie to have her own adventures and survive in the horror-filled aftermath of the apocalypse. This will give Ellie a chance to meet new characters and the game could be developed to be a multiplayer one.

Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann recently said that a guessing game had been played with the means of a trailer that showed Ellie forced to kill Joel who had become infected by the fungus and would soon turn into a zombie. Druckmann told Official PlayStation Magazine UK, "That [trailer about Joel being infected, eventually forcing Ellie to kill him] was constructed in such a way so that people would guess that and think that that's the obvious ending, and then we could turn it on them."

Added to this is the fact that Naughty Dog is still busy with "Uncharted 4" and no official date for "The Last of Us 2" has been revealed by Naughty Dog or by Sony.
