5. Trump withdraws National Guard troops from 3 major cities

In a statement posted to Truth Social Wednesday, Trump announced that “We are removing the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, despite the fact that CRIME has been greatly reduced by having these great Patriots in those cities, and ONLY by that fact.”

He added that “Portland, Los Angeles, and Chicago were GONE if it weren’t for the Federal Government stepping in.”

“We will come back, perhaps in a much different and stronger form, when crime begins to soar again,” he vowed.

Suggesting that it was only a “question of time” before a crime resurgence in the major cities, Trump sarcastically declared, “It is hard to believe that these Democrat Mayors and Governors, all of whom are greatly incompetent, would want us to leave, especially considering the great progress that has been made.”

Trump’s move comes after the U.S. Supreme Court issued a 6-3 ruling last week upholding a lower court decision determining that Trump did not have the authority to deploy members of the Illinois National Guard to the Chicago area. The president’s deployment of National Guard troops to the largest cities in Illinois, California and Oregon was part of his nationwide effort to crack down on crime in major U.S. cities.
