'Wicked City' Spoilers – LAPD On A Hunt To Catch Two Serial Killers Who Team Up

The brand new ABC thriller, "Wicked City," is set in 1982 and focuses on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. The unique selling point of this series is its setting, the 1980s. In the premiere episode, the Los Angeles Police Department detectives are on a hunt to catch not one, but two serial killers who have teamed up to do their wicked deeds after sunset.

The premiere episode of "Wicked City" has already received rave reviews for its shocking depiction of the killings and its stylised storytelling.

The premiere featured the Los Angeles' Sunset Strip in the early 80s when it used to be full of Billy idol fans and singing aspirants and hanger-ons, especially young girls and executives from the music industries. This provides a good hunting ground for the main character, Kent, played by Ed Westwick, who is a serial killer frequenting the Whisky A Go Go, luring in young girls by calling radio stations and making cheezy, romantic dedications to his young would-be victims.

In the premiere episode, Kent murders a young woman and when her headless corpse is found by the LAPD the next day, detectives Jack Roth and Paco Contreras are assigned the case. Jack soon discovers that the killer wants to draw attention to himself so a series of mind games start.

The synopsis for "Running With The Devil", Episode 2 of "Wicked City," states: "Jack and Paco get a lead on the serial killer's next possible victim and race against the clock to try and track her down before the killer gets to her; Kent struggles over whether or not to invite Betty to take part in his murderous rampage when it becomes clear that she doesn't trust him and may leave him, and Jack and Paco continue to search for Karen, who has disappeared from the club."

Why Kent murders these young women is, of course, not revealed. But he has an interesting character arc. He still wants to settle down and have kids with the right woman and he is shown meeting a wholesome young single mother, Betty (Erika Christensen).

But who is Betty? Is she what she seems?

This is enough to keep viewers glued to their TV sets when "Wicked City" airs the second episode on November 3 on ABC.
