Xbox One Backward Compatibility News: Microsoft Adds Two New Titles

"Doom 3 BFG Edition" and "Monaco: What's Yours is Mine"

Just a couple of days after Microsoft announced a trio of games as Xbox One backward compatible, the company has added two more titles to the program's catalog on Thursday, April 14. These are Bethesda Softworks' "Doom 3 BFG Edition" and Majesco Entertainment's "Monaco: What's Yours is Mine."

"Doom 3 BFG Edition"

"Doom 3 BFG Edition" consists of five "Doom 3" titles: the original "Doom," sequel "Doom II," "Doom 3," "Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil," and "Doom 3: The Lost Mission." All five titles were remastered in 3D and bundled together in this collection that came out back in 2012. The "Doom" series provides gamers with a first-person shooter experience as well as supports cooperative play for up to four players. The shooter video game series was created by developer id Software.

"Doom" and "Doom II" were included in the first batch of 104 Xbox One backward compatible games that Microsoft released upon the program's launch in November 2015. Other Xbox 360 titles from Bethesda that are already playable on the Xbox One include "Fallout 3" and "Wolfenstein 3D."

"Monaco: What's Yours is Mine"

The stealth heist game "Monaco: What's Yours is Mine" is the second title from Majesco Entertainment, publisher of Double Fine's "Psychonauts," to become Xbox One backward compatible. The publisher's action-adventure side scroller "BloodRayne: Betrayal" was also included in the initial 104 games that populated the Xbox One Backward Compatible library.

"Monaco: What's Yours is Mine" won the IGF Grand Prize in 2010. Created by Pocketwatch Games, the title tasks players to assemble a team of thieves to "execute the perfect crime." The game can be played by alone or with others in local or online co-op modes.

The latest addition brings the total number of Xbox One backward compatible titles to nearly 160. Microsoft is expected to add more games in future, including fan favorites "Call of Duty: Black Ops," "Red Dead Redemption," and "Skate 3." New games will be added to the service as soon as they're ready.
