Greear, a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and pastor of The Summit Church in Durham, North Carolina, remembered Baucham as a formidable preacher whose death left him “brokenhearted.”

“Brokenhearted to hear about @_VoddieBaucham going home to be with the Lord. Praying for his wife, kids, and grandkids. He preached here several years ago and did an incredible job. He really blessed our people,” he wrote on X Thursday.

“I always enjoyed the times we were together. Ps 116:15 indeed,” he added, pointing to the verse cited by Voddie Baucham Ministries in his death announcement.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints,” the Scripture says.
