Bombings have rocked Christian neighbourhoods in Lebanon and Syria this weekend. Lebanon is in mourning after a deadly car bombing in the capital killed ten people – including a top Lebanese security official: Brigadier General Wissam al-Hassan.He was an outspoken critic of Bashar al-Assad's government, in neighboring Syria.
And…… a deadly car bombing in the Syrian capital killed at least 10 people in a mainly Christian neighborhood of Damascus. The bomb was reportedly planted outside a police station. It went off as the U-N and Arab League's Special Envoy for Syria met with the Syrian President.

The Catholic Church made history today. Pope Benedict the Sixteenth has canonized the first-ever Aboriginal in North America. Mohawk Kateri Tekakwitha lived in the 1600's. The Pope also canonized seven new saints. The Catholic Church says she performed a miracle in 2006, healing a boy suffering from a flesh-eating bacteria. The boy's pastor suggested his family pray to Tekakwitha because of her own history. Her face was badly scarred in childhood from smallpox.
