Bombings have rocked Christian neighbourhoods in Lebanon and Syria this weekend. Lebanon is in mourning after a deadly car bombing in the capital killed ten people – including a top Lebanese security official: Brigadier General Wissam al-Hassan.He was an outspoken critic of Bashar al-Assad's government, in neighboring Syria.

And…… a deadly car bombing in the Syrian capital killed at least 10 people in a mainly Christian neighborhood of Damascus. The bomb was reportedly planted outside a police station. It went off as the U-N and Arab League's Special Envoy for Syria met with the Syrian President.

Lakhdar Brahimi is trying to broker a cease-fire before the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, which begins on Friday.

Foreign policy will take center stage in tonight's debate showdown in Florida, between President Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Lincoln Alexander, Canada's first black MP and cabinet minister, is dead at age 90 He was the first black lieutenant governor of Ontario—who served from 1985 to 1991.

Meantime…..former Senator George McGovern has passed away. His family announced that the former presidential candidate died at a hospice in South Dakota. He was 90 years old.

A female candidate in Palestine is being told she should stay at home instead of running for elections. Now she is running with an all female party.

The Catholic Church made history today. Pope Benedict the Sixteenth has canonized the first-ever Aboriginal in North America. Mohawk Kateri Tekakwitha lived in the 1600's. The Pope also canonized seven new saints. The Catholic Church says she performed a miracle in 2006, healing a boy suffering from a flesh-eating bacteria. The boy's pastor suggested his family pray to Tekakwitha because of her own history. Her face was badly scarred in childhood from smallpox.
