'Hannibal' news, cast, spoilers: Bryan Fuller still hoping for a Hannibal film

After three seasons, "Hannibal" has finally wrapped up. Just a few episodes into the start of season 3, fans had already been crushed with the news that they will no longer be having a dose of Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter weekly after this season finishes. Although possibilities of the series continuing is slowly dwindling, the hopes of a movie happening may still push through.

According to Screenrant, showrunner Bryan Fuller recently gave an update about this news, he is quoted saying, "[Executive producer] Martha De Laurentiis is looking into financing for a film. I'm still hoping that we get to tell that story in some way. There is something in the novel Hannibal that has not been done in any of the adaptations and I would love to explore that with Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter. I'm hoping that someday, whether it's a year from now … two years from now … that we will continue to get to tell that story. I feel like if Will Graham did survive that plunge, his most interesting chapter is yet to be told."

Season 3 did have an adequate ending, although it was never told if Hannibal and Will had met their end, so the return of the characters will not be surprising. Fuller's intention for a film may be to close the story properly with a definitive ending. However, fans feel unconvinced that a movie would satisfy the series and that the only way to continue on after the great run Hannibal has had would be to continue the show.

Fuller did also mention, later on, that a "miniseries of some sort" is another viable option if another network would be interested. Although it won't probably be soon, Fuller remains hopeful that it could be a chance for the show to have a "rebirth." However, fans have become skeptic of Fuller's words as he also said the same thing with one of his previous hit shows that got canceled, "Pushing Daisies," which never happened.

For now, followers of the show can only wait for any — if there is — future for Hannibal.
