Houston Rockets NBA Trade Rumors: Francisco Garcia Close to Re-Signing
Though not officially announced by the Houston Rockets, it seems like Francisco Garcia is now close to re-signing his contract with Houston Rockets, according to reports.
In a Twitter post by Clutch City's local newsreporter, Jonathan Feigen revealed that both the Rockets and Garcia are interested in closing the deal.
"That's their plan and his, but no agreement on deal yer RT @rjanssaen37: @Jonathen_Feigen is it [true] that the rockets re sign fransico Garcia," as stated in Feigen's social media.
On the other hand, Dominican Republic News website El Caribe reported that the 32-year-old guard-forward will sign a 2-year contract deal with Rockets for $3.5 million.
Garcia's agent, Aaron Goodwin, is quick to debunk the report, saying "there's no agreement reached."
Though unclear, there are still speculations indicating that the deal will likely close sometime in the future. Meanwhile, critics said that the free agent will perhaps be looking for short-term deals and an available option for him would be Utah Jazz.
Garcia, who played around 55 games for the Rockets, has been struggling with his back injury. Although the Dominican came off strong during his rookie years in the league, analysts suggest that his performance might dwindle as his age goes by.
With a 35.8 shooting percentage from the floor and 25 percent mid-range, Garcia was hardly considered a crucial piece at the previous playoffs.
Furthermore, with the recent signing of former two-time Euroleague champion Kostas Papanikolaou as well as the coming of another guard-forward Alonzo Gee, Garcia's position might be entirely squeezed out.
As said, these are all still in speculations until official announcement from the Rockets will be released.
