When he was sworn into office in January 2021, he became only the second member of the Roman Catholic Church to serve as president, with John F. Kennedy becoming the first in 1961.

Kennedy’s presidency was tragically cut short two years and about 10 months into his administration, or about 1,000 days.

Despite being a practicing Catholic, Biden was often ridiculed by critics for championing public policies that contradicted Catholic Church teaching on issues like abortion and human sexuality, including same-sex marriage and transgenderism.

Earlier this month, Biden awarded Pope Francis the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
