5 reactions to Jimmy Kimmel's apology over Charlie Kirk remarks: 'Crocodile tears'

3. Andrew Kolvet, TPUSA spokesman
Kolvet, a Turning Point USA spokesman and the executive producer of "The Charlie Kirk Show," asserted that the emotions Jimmy Kimmel displayed Tuesday night were for himself "because he almost torched his entire career."
"Kimmel is an unrepentant liar who tried to blame Charlie's assassination on the part of the country that just spent the last 2 weeks praying and holding vigils," Kolvet wrote Wednesday in a post on X. "What he's really saying is that he still thinks it's fair game to slander conservatives. He would rather advance his own political and cultural agenda than confront the truth."
The TPUSA spokesman added that the truth is that people on the Left have been "fanning the flames of political assassinations for years."
"The truth is that someone on the left picked up a gun and murdered someone on the right who advocated for peaceful debate," Kolvet continued.
"It's critical that liars admit they lied. There can be no restoration without that," he stated. "Anything short of that is a fake and scripted cry line designed to endear him to his fans, not to make right the wrong he committed."
The man suspected of murdering Kirk, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice, tampering with a witness, and violent offense committed in the presence of a child.
According to court documents, the suspect's mother said that over the past year or so, Robinson "started to lean more to the Left — becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented." The 22-year-old suspect was also in a romantic relationship with his trans-identifying roommate, who was also into the alternative furry culture.
Robinson grew up in a Republican family; however, the court documents also state that the suspect and his father have "very different political views."
During a Wednesday interview with Fox News' "America's Newsroom," Kolvet said Kimmel should apologize to Kirk's family for the remarks that resulted in his suspension.
"What we need is, 'I'm sorry, I lied, I was wrong, and I won't do it again. And my apologies to the Kirk family and Erika Kirk,'" Kolvet said.
"When somebody like Jimmy Kimmel says that the shooter of Charlie was MAGA, what he's really saying is that it's OK to lie about conservatives, that their lives don't matter, that his agenda, his political agenda and cultural agenda, is more important than the life of my friend who was just taken from us and robbed from us," the TPUSA spokesman added.
