Justin Bieber Baby Mama: Singer's Team Trying to 'Intimidate and Frighten' Mariah Yeater, Lawyer Says

The lawyer for Mariah Yeater, the woman who claimed Justin Bieber fathered her son, defended his 20-year-old client and said she is “bullied” by Bieber’s team.

Jeffrey Leaving addressed the recent developments in the paternity case, and said that the pop singer’ powerful legal team is going against Yeater and trying to intimidate and frighten her from pursuing her claims.

“I fight for what's right and I fight for the victim and I believe what I'm doing is right,” said Leaving to WGN-TV. He also accused Bieber’s team of threatening to put Yeater in jail, take her baby, and slam her with a big lawsuit. Leaving said that regardless of the high-celebrity status of the accused, everyone deserves the right to have his or her cause heard and considered by the judicial system.

Although Bieber agreed to take a paternity test to prove whether or not he is the father of the baby, Leaving questioned the legitimacy of the proposed test, because it is not court-sanctioned, according to the Examiner.

“If it's not court-sanctioned, there's not proper court-ordered controls supervising the DNA collection, the transportation to the lab and the actual testing,” the attorney warned. “How do we know the evidence won't be corrupted?”

Besides consistent warnings from Bieber’s legal team, Yeater also received death threats from fans of the pop star on Twitter. Many fans said Yeater is trying to cash in on Bieber’s name and force a settlement, accusations that have been fueled by revelations concerning her accusations against a former boyfriend for fathering her child.

Despite the threats, Yeater remained firmly convinced in her claim, and told the Daily Star she will not give up her cause:

“I'm not going to be shaken off course by his hostile words. He needs to accept responsibility for his child,” Yeater said.
