Kate Moss 'Never Liked' Her Looks, New Book Claims

Model Kate Moss is one of the few people who doesn't consider herself model material. Moss has a new book coming out about her life and modeling career, which came as a great surprise to the beauty.

"I wasn't the prettiest girl in class," she told The New York Times recently. "No breasts, short legs, gangly teeth. I didn't think I was model material, that's for sure. I think they're all right, my looks, now. But I've never seen myself as sexy or a side of myself that boys would like."

Moss started modeling at a pivotal age when she was unconvinced of her beauty and future success. One of her most famous photo shoots wound up causing her severe anxiety to the point where she "couldn't get out of bed for two weeks. I thought I was going to die," she explained.

It was hard for the 17-year-old to pose topless with Marky Mark, someone already famous. The intensity of the shoot led to a "nervous breakdown," she said.

"It was just anxiety. Nobody takes care of you mentally. There's a massive pressure to do what you have to do," she revealed.

"I'd lock myself in the toilet and cry and then come out and do it [the shoot]. I never felt very comfortable about it," Moss admitted. But she was able to overcome her nerves and produce an iconic image that set a precedent for the rest of her career.

Moss has worked with top designers and models, all the while mostly keeping to herself. The interview with The Times has caused a sensation mainly because Moss has rarely given any interviews to the press or spoken to the larger public.

As Moss described her job as a model, it "is to be that character, to act and move like that other person that people imagine."

Her upcoming book "Kate: The Kate Moss Book" features photos of the model, along with text and the "detonation of tiny bombshells about her scandal-prone life," noted the Times. No date has been set for its release.
