Katherine Jenkins 'Dancing With the Stars' Concussion: 'I'm a Tough Welsh Girl'

Classic opera singer turned "Dancing With the Stars" competitor Katherine Jenkins has suffered from an apparent concussion. However, the show must go on, and so it did.

Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins had a small setback Thursday while practicing for "Dancing With the Stars." During a partnered routine, Mark Ballas accidentally kneed the operatic singer in the head, leaving the singer feeling sick with a throbbing headache.

Despite the headache, the singer went on to perform at the BritWeek gala in Los Angeles the following day, according to OK Magazine.

"I'm a tough Welsh girl and I just got on with it," she said. "I felt awful but I was determined to carry on and do my best for the next show."

The 31-year-old, who debuted a pair of flowery shorts last week while taking a stroll with Ballas, revealed that all of the added dancing for the show has helped her get in shape.

"I've lost a stone and a half. I'm burning so much energy now that it's hard to put the weight back on," Jenkins told Mail Online. "But I like to be curvy so I'm trying not to lose anymore. But I do want to be healthy, too- there are so many skimpy costumes to wear. That scares me."

Apparently, even Jenkin's ex-fiance Gethin Jones is still taken back at the singer-turned-dance star.

"I've seen a few [episodes of Dancing With The Stars] and she's amazing, absolutely brilliant. She is a fantastic dancer and I have no doubt she'll go onto win it," Jones said, admitting that he hadn't really gotten over his ex.

"It's still very fresh and I'm just taking it easy, working hard," Jones commented. "It's kind of weird because everyone wants to know, but nothing, no."
