'Metal Gear Online' set to release on October 6th for PlayStation and Xbox
Konami refutes rumors of stopping 'Metal Gear' series
Following Rockstar's schedule, Konami, developers of the "Metal Gear" games have confirmed that "Metal Gear Online" will be available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Oct. 6, 2015. PC gamers will have to wait for 2016 for the PC Version.
Since there are many good first-person-shooter games in the market, Konami is using a strategy to hold on to its fan base by making the "Metal Gear Online" available to gamers who have purchased "Metal Gear V: Phantom Pain." With this strategy, Konami is reeling in those online shooter fans who are not interested in "Metal Gear" first-person-shooter gameplay. With the multiplayer mode in "Metal Gear Online", Konami hopes to give gamers a game to play as first-person-shooter or multiplayer mode.
In "Metal Gear Online," players will be able to play as one of three classes. One of the classes consist of the Infiltrators who are very skilled in using stealth mode. They kill and kidnap enemies by infiltrating enemy zones. The Scout class is an investigator type. Gamers can snipe, set visual markers for their teammates, and use the fulton to kidnap enemies. The Enforcer class are specialists in heavy weapons and tanks.
Onslaught and Snake are some of the available playable characters in this game.
Recently, there were rumors that Konami will be abandoning the "Metal Gear" series as it is high budget. There were reports too that Konami has stopped production on all games except the "Pro Evolution Soccer"
Refuting such rumors, Konami has said in an alleged reply to a fan, "I can promise you that we're definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that.I know some blogs were claiming that, but I'm not really sure where they'd be getting that from. We're still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest. Those teams are definitely working on designing and programming great games."
