NBA News 2016: Nets Owner Mikhail Prokhorov Talks About Team Development; Chris Paul, Lebron James Named Players Of The Week

Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov spoke further about how he intends to go about the steps of development for his team.

The 50-year-old Russian business magnate recently made huge moves by reassigning General Manager Billy King and letting go of head coach Lionell Hollins.

In a report by Mike Mazzeo for ESPN, Prokhorov explained his decision on why he made such a move. He first noted how they have been going for the same approach the past seasons but it has not really led them to any further success.

This has been his main reason to call for a total revamp, as far as his management team goes. "That's why we need a small reset for this year, and I hope we will be back as a playoff team and as a championship contender. It's my only goal," he said.

The report adds that while he did commend King for his contributions to the team, he maintains that the Brooklyn Nets still need a "fresh look."

"We should be able to take courage to turn down the opportunities, which maybe don't fit to our strategy," he added. "Maybe this is the second lesson from the last six years."

The Nets last played against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, where they won with a score of 110-104. They currently hold a win-loss slate of 11-28.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul and two-time NBA champion LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers have gotten the Player of the Week honors.

In a report by NBA.com, James was able to lead the Cavaliers to a four-game winning streak and averaged 26 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.0 assists during the said time period.

During the Cavaliers' 95-85 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, "King James" scored 37 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists.

Chris Paul, on the other hand, led the Clippers to a three-game winning streak and averaged 23.7 points, 12.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds as of January 10.

His most notable performance as of late came against the Portland Trailblazers on January 6. In the said game, which the Clippers won with a score of 109-98, Paul piled in a season high 19 assists.
