Oppo to Release the First Phone With 1080p Display

A Chinese company known as Oppo is planning to release the world's first smartphone with a 1080p display.

The device is called the Oppo Find 5 and it features a 5-inch screen that has a 1920 x 1080 resolution. This makes it 1080p which translates to full high-definition. Most popular smartphones currently available on the market have 720p displays.

The display on the Oppo Find 5 will also have a pixel density of 441ppi, which allows it to blow away most of its competition, even when compared to the mighty iPhone 4S that has 326ppi pixel density.

Other specifications on the smartphone include a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chip with a quad-core Krait processor and Android 4.1, JellyBean pre-installed. There is no information on release date or pricing for the device yet.

Oppo also made headlines recently with another smartphone it unveiled called the Oppo Finder. The company pitched the handset as "the world's thinnest smartphone," a title that previously belonged to Motorola's Droid Razr.

Motorola unveiled the successor to the Razr, the Droid Razr HD and Razr HD Maxx last week. Both the Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD will arrive in stores before the holidays, according to the company.

Both devices pack Corning Gorilla Glass displays, DuPont Kevlar fiber, and a splash-guard coating on the outside to protect from water damage. They also come with Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.

Both of them also have impressive hardware under the hood including a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera with LED flash with 1080p HD recording.

The greatest different between the Razr HD and Razr HD Maxx is battery life.

The Maxx HD features an impressive 2500mAh battery while the Razr HD has a 1780mAh. The more powerful battery on the Maxx HD allows the owner to listen to 27 hours of music, stream 10 hours of video, and have 21 hours of talk time.
