A new realistic crime game called "Her Story" has recently been released based on real crime interrogations and detective-type investigations.

"Her Story," a new interactive murder interrogation game based on real-life crime investigations has just been launched this month, featuring a woman grilled over the murder of her husband.

A first video game release from "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" game director, Sam Barlow, "Her Story was funded by Indie Fund, an independent game developers' organization.

The game features film clips as seen from the desktop of a nineties model computer, focusing on a British woman Hannah Smith (Viva Seifert), in seven interrogation scenes where police question her about the unsolved murder of her husband, Simon.

Players get access to archived video footage from a police database dating back to 1994, taking on the role of the investigator behind the police computer terminal attempting to solve the mystery of Hannah's husband's death via search queries.

Players get to interact with the narrative, using search terms to gather clues and solve the murder case, while progressing steadily through the interrogation video footage.

"Her Story' garnered much attention from the gaming community due in part to the lack of titles in the realistic crime game genre where players could research real crimes and solve them via interactive interrogations, and giving gamers a complex mental challenge while they unravel the narrative.

The video footage setting occurs within a police interrogation room, reminiscent of TV series like "True Detective" and "Law & Order," where intimate interviews with the suspect help the armchair detective sift through various keyword clues to tag and annotate to determine whether Hannah Smith murdered her husband or not.

"Her Story" has been released this month, and is available on PC, Mac, and iOS.
