Sarah Palin Negotiating Season 2 of Hit Reality Show

Sarah Palin’s reality show, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” may return to TLC next year for a second season.

Mark Burnett, the show’s producer, said he is in negotiation with TLC to bring the second season of the outdoorsy reality series back next fall.

“The plan would be to shoot this in the summer of 2012,” Burnett told The New York Post.

“Sarah Palin’s Alaska” debuted in November 2010. The show premiered to 5 million viewers.

“It was the number one premiere ever on TLC,” Burnett told The New York Post.

New episodes of the “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” will not air until after the November 2012 presidential election.

Burnett told The New York Post the election will be addressed in the second season, but if picked up, the show will mainly focus on Palin and her family.

“By the time we edit it, the election will be over. It makes perfect sense, because that is what’s going on. But it would be again Sarah in Alaska, living with Todd and the family and having adventures juxtaposed with doing her Fox News bits and discussing whatever is going on. But I am sure the election would be mentioned in the show,” Burnett said.

"Sarah knows to strike when the iron is hot and started talking about season two right after the show debuted to huge numbers," a friend of the former Vice President nominee told Pop Eater after season one’s debut last year. "She knows that celebrities get millions of dollar for each episode of their shows and thinks she's worth it too. Jennifer Aniston took home millions from ‘Friends’ and in Sarah's eyes, she's no different."

Not everyone is on the Palin reality show bandwagon. Some believe public interest in Palin has dwindled since her decision not to run for president.

“I think it is safe to say her time has passed,” a source from TLC network told The Hollywood Reporter.

Burnett is the producer of several reality hits, including "The Apprentice" and "Survivor."
