Washington Wizards Roster News 2015: Veteran Newcomers Are Battling for Fitness

Jared Dudley and Alan Anderson came in to help the Wizards this season.

As the Washington Wizards prepare for another season in the NBA, they understand that they need their core players and different role players to work together in order to continue their development as a top team in the East.

Last year, they reached the playoffs and that will still be their target in the coming campaign.

With stars like John Wall and Bradley Beal, the future of Wizards basketball is bright.

However, in order to help them get over the hump, the Wizards made some moves that helped them acquire veteran players who have the leadership and experience to help them get over the hump.

Two of those new acquisitions are Jared Dudley and Alan Anderson.

They are expected to come off as the emotional leaders of the team but both at the moment are still recovering from their injuries.

Dudley had back surgery in July but is hopeful that he will be able to return to the team at the end of the preseason.

He is currently limited to non-contact drills but according to Jorge Castillo in his Twitter account, Dudley should be back in action on October 13.

The eight-year veteran is averaging 8.5 points per game in his NBA career.

Meanwhile, Anderson signed a contract with the Wizards after previously playing for the Brooklyn Nets.

He is also injured as he had surgery done on his left ankle during the summer. At 32 years old, Anderson will be relied on to be a swingman and his averages of 7.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game should be great help off the bench for the team.

Last year, the Wizards finished with a 46-36 record, good enough to finish second in the Southeast Division.

They swept the higher-seeded Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs before being eliminated by the Atlanta Hawks in six games in the conference semifinals.
