"YOU GUYS! My B&N store has NOOK tablet in stock today! And it's so cool! Squee! #nooktablet," tweeted Elisa Jankowski, @what_ever_for.

"Played with the Nook Tablet a little bit. Impressed with how fast it loads everything. #nooktablet," tweeted Matt Burris, @Bluefoot).

Customers who pre-ordered the device for in-store pickup will be able to do so today. One lucky individual apparently picked up the tablet already.

Forum users for the website Liliputing expressed their thoughts on the Nook vs. the Kindle Fire.

"My local BN just got the Nook Tablet in, while I can't compare the screen to Kindle Fire since I don't have one it had way less glare than Nook Color. If the Kindle Fire is a clone of the Blackberry Playbook with toned down specs then I'd say it's a safe bet that the Nook Tablet has the better screen," said forum user Sonic.

The Nook tablet comes with a 7-inch screen with a 1024 x 600 pixel IPS display, 1 GHz TI OMAP4 dual core CPU, 1 GB of onboard memory, 16 GB of additional storage, and 11.5 hours of reading through the tablet's battery life. Users will also be able to access free Wi-Fi with their Nook tablet at all Barnes & Noble stores.

The Barnes & Noble Nook tablet retails at $249.
