'Destiny 2' Updates: Bungie Denies Banning Players for Using Third-Party Software

Bungie has denied the allegations that it banned hundreds of "Destiny 2" players on PC for supposedly using a third-party software.

"Destiny 2" launched on PC only yesterday, but the game immediately got embroiled in a controversy after several players complained that they have been banned from the game. While it was initially thought that the ban was due to the use of a third-party software meant to improve the game's screen overlays or performance monitors, Bungie has denied the allegations, stressing that it only banned those who use tools that can affect the game's ecosystem.

"Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game. We did not (and will not) issue any bans for the use of overlays or performance tools, including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc...We are overturning 4 of the bans that were issued during the PC Beta," goes a portion of Bungie's post on its official blog post.

In the same post, Bungie admitted that it banned roughly 400 players after the game was launched on PC yesterday, Oct. 25. However, in an update, it also revealed that it has already identified a group of players who were erroneously banned from the game and has already un-banned those.

"We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game," added the game developer in its updated blog post.

To recall, Bungie said earlier this year that it will be implementing a draconian policy to maintain that would prevent players from cheating and hacking the PC version of "Destiny 2." For the game developer, the measure is necessary to ensure a fair and great gaming experience. And, in the event that players get banned for using a third-party software other than the purpose of improving the overlays and performance of the game, Bungie suggests that they certainly deserve it.

However, the game developer also reiterated that banning can only happen after a member of the Bungie checks manually, and that "Destiny 2" does not have the ability to automatically ban players, even if they use cheating tools.
