Floyd Mayweather Fight News: 'GGG' Coach Says Mayweather is 'Fixated' on His Fighter

Trainer Abel Sanchez believes that retired undefeated boxing Floyd Mayweather Jr. is actually mounting a comeback to face Gennady Golovkin.

Since retiring in September 2015 after his landslide victory over Andre Berto, Mayweather has seemed to have kept himself relevant in boxing discussions today. One of the names that is usually being paired with his is that Golovkin, who has remained undefeated, mostly by knocking his opponents out.

The discussions between Mayweather and Golovkin have began to become rampant shortly before his retirement, after winning against Manny Pacquiao last May 2nd. But according to "GGG's" trainer Able Sanchez, "Money Mayweather" is still 'fixated' on his fighter, mainly because the former pound-for-pound boxing king has continued making statements about the said match-up over the past few weeks.

Sanchez spoke all about it in a recent interview with On The Ropes Boxing.

"He is sayiang things about a comeback, he just seems to be fixated on Golovkin," Sanchez said. "I've seen three or four pieces in the last couple of weeks where he's talking about beating Golovkin, it looks like he's laying the groundwork or something, whether it's Golokvin or somebody else."

Sanchez remains convinced that Mayweather is indeed bracing himself for a third return, supposing it does come true. In 2007, Mayweather first retired from the sport of boxing, after his tenth round stoppage victory over Ricky Hatton.

He then went out of his retirement in 2009, where he fought and won against Juan Manuel Marquez. Currently, Mayweather is 49 years old, and holds an unblemished win-loss slate of 49-0 with 26 victories by knockout.

For Sanchez, the mere fact that Mayweather has kept himself and his name within the loud buzz of today's conversations within the sport of boxing is one indication that he is indeed on the verge of making a return.

"We've always known that Floyd was a great businessman, so it' all part of a plan for him," he said. "There's nothing that he says or does that is not calculated."
