The show will start filming this summer and will continue until fall which will then set the release of the seventh season at a later schedule. Executive producers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are looking at a shortened last two episodes. There is a possibility that season 8 will be between 6 or 8 episodes. It is also reported that the production will be based in Northern Ireland with some parts shot in Spain and Iceland.

Winter is coming to Westeros, so the filming of some scenes will be in Iceland where winter is to hit the most. Thus giving the show a winter's feel. The set has to be gloomy, dark and cold.

George R. R. Martin reported recently that it has been a surprise for them that the series can actually catch up with the books. Martin also urges fans to enjoy the show and at the same time enjoy the books because most of the time the stories in the book diverges with the series.

Furthermore, Season 7 will then miss the chance of being included in the Emmy Nominations this year since the rules to be included in the Emmy's is that the bulk of the season must have aired in May 31, 2016. This means that the seventh season might have to wait for 2018.

"Game Of Thrones" had an impressive 23 Emmy Nominations announced last July 14. The stars who have been nominated and are leading the race are Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, and Lena Headey. Also included are first-time nominees Kit Harington and Maisie Williams. Other nominations for the series include directing, writing and drama series.

Executive producers of the series include Benioff, Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield, while Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis, George R.R. Martin and Bryan Cogman are co-executive producers. Chris Newman, Greg Spence and Lisa McAtackney are producing the seventh season. Game of Thrones Season 7 directors are Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, Matt Shakman and Alan Taylor.

Game of Thrones has seven kingdoms, seven gods and now Season 7 will have 7 episodes and will be released in 2017.
