Kevin Durant and His Free Agency this Summer: San Antonio Spurs Added to List of Teams Interested In Signing OKC's Star

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar franchise player Kevin Durant is already being eyed on by opposing teams to play for them for the next season.

After nine seasons with the Thunder where he won the 2014 Most Valuable Player award, along the way, the 27-year old Durant will be turning into a free agent after the season, making him one of top free-agents to sign for the 2016-2017 season.

As early as February, a number of clubs already showed interest. One of the first teams was the defending champions Goldent State Warriors. In a previous report by ESPN, Golden State was said to be already making roster adjustments to make room for Durant.

Another possible team would be the Los Angeles Lakers, an organization that struggled the entire season, finishing dead last. According to a report by Mike Chiari for Bleacher Report, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith believes that Durant's top pick for his next team would be the Purple and Gold, but also noted the possibility of him suiting up for the Washington Wizards, since Washington D.C. is his hometown.

Durant, however, disputed such talks by Smith, deeming them as mere speculation.

Another point made about Durant's possible transfer to Los Angeles was a statement made by former Laker Shaquille O'Neal, who was firm in his belief that Durant would indeed sign with the team.

Currently, Durant and his team are battling the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semi-finals of the 2016 NBA Playoffs, with their series tied at 2-2. And ironically, their current opponents have been added to the list of teams showing interest to sign him.

In another report by ESPN, league sources say that the Spurs are "intrigued" as much as Golden State is in signing Durant. Durant, for his part, says free agency and a new contract with a new team has not yet entered his mind.

"I haven't thought about contracts or free agency or none of that stuff at all really," Durant said. "I haven't thought about that one. I guess I have to."
