Manny Pacquiao Fight News: Promoter Willing to 'Bet His House' on Errol Spence Defeating 'Pacman'

Veteran promoter Lou DiBella is highly confident that undefeated welterweight prospect Errol Spence would be able to defeated eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

In a report by Keith Idec for Boxingscene, DiBella is so confident in Spence's chances that he is willing to put his own home at stake.

"Now, the winner of (Keith) Thurman and (Shawn) Porter, Kell Brook, are you gonna put him out of the mix with any of those guys? He might beat all of them," DiBell said. "Pacquiao? I'd bet my house right now he'd beat Pacquiao."

Pacquiao, however, announced his retirement from the sport of boxing after a 20-year career last April 9th, after a dominating performance against former WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.

He was given a unanimous decision verdict, with all three judges scoring the bout 116-110.

Spence, meanwhile, put on a sensational performance on Saturday night against former WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri, a former opponent of Pacquiao's. "The Truth" was able to stop Algieri end the fight within five rounds, emerging victorious via TKO.

The victory marks Spence's 20th, as he keeps his undefeated record of 20-0, with 17 victories by knockout.

For his part, Spence did not expect for the fight to end in such a quick manner.

"I thought it would be a little later, to tell you the truth. Chris Algieri is a tough fighter and I thank him for the opportunity," Spence said after the fight. "He tested me a little, but he didn't push me into deep waters. I was prepared for everything he came with."

Algieri, on the other hand, was dealt with his first knockout loss in his eight-year professional career. He now drops to a record of 21-3, with eight wins by knockout.

DiBella believes that with Spence's victory, the 26-year old fighter now belongs to the top ten in boxing's current pound-for-pound rankings.
