Windows 10 Release Date News: Microsoft Announces Late 2015 Launch

Windows 10 will be released late this year and technical preview will end on April 15.

Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 users can upgrade freely to Windows 10 in the first year of its release. If the user failed to upgrade on the first year, they will be charged.

Although Windows 10 is still under development, the OS already has several outstanding features especially the comeback of the Start menu. Windows 8 confused users since the Start menu cannot be found and the interface was very much similar to a tablet.

Based on the previews, users can resize the Start menu as they wish. It can be changed similarly to the Start screen in Windows 8 but the taskbar will not disappear to facilitate easy navigation between applications.

Since the Windows 10 is still in testing time, there are apps that looked different. Some pre-loaded apps are arranged in a hamburger menu while other versions have a back button for navigation. This is reportedly a clear indication that Microsoft would like to receive more feedback and they have not finalized the look of Windows 10.

Other than that, the icons have a more modern touch. The control panel and settings app have been merged, which seems easier to navigate. Most of the features are improved such as the login screen, clock and calendar.

Windows 10 comes with its digital assistant Cortana that can be found in the task bar. Users can say "Hey Cortana" to activate the feature and it can help search for old photos or answer weather questions. Microsoft said that in the near future Cortana will be integrated into the new Spartan browser.

Spartan will reportedly replace Internet Explore and has several features like Note Taking Mode and Reading Mode. In Note Taking Mode, users can comment or write on the web page using a stylus while in the Reading Mode, users can save articles for later use even when it is offline.

As for the price of Windows 10, Microsoft has not yet announced the official price for the latest operating system.
