PlayStation New FMV Game 'Erica' News: Title to Use Sony's PlayLink System

During this year's Paris Games Week event, Sony gave fans a glimpse into the future of the PlayStation console, including the reveal of a new exciting full motion video (FMV) game titled "Erica."

Soon to be released on the PlayStation 4, the game follows the story of a young female with a dark past that has come back to haunt her. According to Dual Shockers, this seems to be associated with a murder that the main character Erica may have witnessed, keeping the killer's identity locked away in her memories of the past.

Caught between different versions of the truth, players must help the namesake protagonist decide who she must trust and what she must believe in.

Developed by London digital entertainment studio Flavourworks, and utilizing the mobile PlayLink system, which is Sony's social gaming system, "Erica" was designed to give players a cinematic-like experience, but also gives them the opportunity be in constant interaction with the game and discuss their every move.

Sony's PlayLink will allow collaborations between players using different smartphones or tablets. They can select various options and actions for the character.

In an interview with creative director Jack Attridge, he revealed how he and his team have been pushing the boundaries of storytelling through this new game.

"It really works as like a backseat gaming experience, which is something that has always been an interesting subject to me," he said in the video uploaded by PlayStation on YouTube. "Whether you're playing 'Erica' or you're watching it almost passively in a sort of social situation, it generally feels like watching a Hollywood film, the same pace and the same production value and that sort of flow that you're familiar with after 100 years of filmmaking," he added.

The full video of the interview is found below.

As of now, the release date for the interactive live-action drama "Erica" has not been announced. Interested players are encouraged to wait for more updates regarding the game's development.
