San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors Preview: Warriors Still Hopeful To Break '95 Bulls' Record

The league-leading Golden State Warriors are still looking to beat the record set by the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls team, as they face the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs, next.

The third game of the season between the top two teams of the Western Conference division will be taking place on April 7th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

The first time the Warriors and Spurs met this season was last January 26th, with Golden State winning by 30 points, bearing a final score of 120-90. That night, it was reigning Most Valuable Player awardee Stephen Curry who dropped the most points, scoring 37 points, along with two rebounds, three assists, and five steals, shooting 12 out of 20 from the field, through 28 minutes of playing time.

For their part, the Spurs were missing the services of veteran big man Tim Duncan, who was out with a sore right knee. Forward Kawhi Leonard stepped up for San Antonio, scoring 16 points, along with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, shooting 4 out of 6 from the field, through 25 minutes of playing time.

The second game last March 26th had the Spurs avenging their previous loss. Held at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, the host team emerged victorious with a final score of 87-79. San Antonio was able to ward off Golden State's offense and keep them at a low output.

Forward LaMarcus Aldridge came up big with a double-double, scoring 26 points, along with 13 rebounds, shooting 11 out of 25 from the field, through 37 minutes of playing time.

Kawhi Leonard also piled in significant numbers, scoring 18 points, along with 14 rebounds and four assists, shooting 5 out of 14 from the field, through 38 minutes of playing time.

The Warriors currently hold a record of 69-9, and would need to win their last four games in order to beat the record set by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls team, a win-loss slate of 72-10.

The Spurs, on the other hand, hold a 65-12 record.
