'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Plot Rumors: Will Kylo Ren Try to Save Leia?

Will Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) start to embrace the light?

In the latest trailer for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," there is a scene that seemingly hints that Kylo, who had sworn his allegiance to Supreme Leader Snoke, is about to attack his mother General Leia Organa's (Carrie Fisher) Resistance ship.

Considering the fact that Fisher passed away last year in December, and before the filming for "Star Wars 9" started, it is quite clear that the eighth film in the saga titled "The Last Jedi" is where her character will meet her end.

However, despite the idea that this particular scene may be just that, there is a speculation that it is actually the opposite. Kylo might not be trying to kill Leia. Instead, he might be saving his mother.

According to the script for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," when Kylo killed Han Solo (Harrison Ford), his father, in the 2015 film, the act apparently weakened him instead of strengthening his power.

"Kylo Ren is somehow weakened by this wicked act. Himself horrified," the script reads. "His shock is broken only when — Chewie cried out in agony! Chewie furiously fires at Kylo Ren, Hitting him in the side! Kylo Ren falls back, stunned," it continued.

This clearly laid out that his patricide was not the catharsis he was looking for. So, what would he gain from killing his own mother? It might make things even worse for him.

Comic Book reports that there are rumors Kylo and Leia will run into each other as the latter tries to evade destruction by the First Order. In the trailer, Kylo had a conflicting look on his face, which may hint that he was having second thoughts about firing on his mother's ship.

Is the attack really meant for his mother? Or will he choose to spare her from death?

Fans will soon find out when "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" opens in cinemas on Dec. 15.
