'Stranger Things' Producer Confirms Season 1 Villain is Still Alive

Days after "Stranger Things" season 2 landed on streaming service Netflix, the hit series is still being talked about by its millions of viewers and media outlets for its controversial scenes.

As previously reported, the series creators, the Duffer brothers, defended the series' controversial seventh episode, saying that it was pivotal for Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) personal plot.

Now, executive producer Shawn Levy has confirmed that the season 1 villain, who also appeared in the said season 2 episode, is still alive, despite seemingly having met his demise in the previous season.

"Whether or not people feel that episode was entirely successful, the Duffers want to take some swings, and they know that they're not gonna please everybody," he said in a recent interview with Collider. "But that feeling of the world getting a bit bigger especially coupled with the fact that it now seems clear that Brenner is alive, Brenner is out there," he added.

"Stranger Things" season 2 episode 7 titled "The Lost Sister" saw Eleven and Kali, a.k.a. Eight (Linnea Berthelsen), try to go after a scientist who had previously tortured them when they were experiments at Hawkins Lab.

The said person tried to convince Eleven to spare his life by telling her that Dr. Brenner was still alive and that he could help them find him. Later on, the villainous character made a surprise appearance in an intense and emotional scene.

Levy continued to talk about the confrontation between Eleven and Dr. Brenner, a.k.a. Papa (Matthew Modine), the highlight of the episode, even though it was only a hallucination produced by Kali's powers to convince Eleven to stay with her and hunt the villain down.

He told the publication: "I for one think that that one scene with Modine and Millie in Episode 7 is one of the juiciest scenes, and it kind of brought me back to how haunting Modine is in that Brenner role. So that's a major unanswered question, and also we've now confirmed that Eleven isn't the only one. There are other numbers."

It has already been confirmed that the Duffer brothers have already started writing the third season of the series. Will Modine be reprising his role as Dr. Brenner next season? How will Eleven react to him the next time around?

Will the other experiments, apart from Eleven and Eight, make an appearance soon? Are they still alive? Where did they all end up?

Fans will soon find out when "Stranger Things" season 3 lands on Netflix. A release date is yet to be announced.
