10 Christian Democrats running on their faith in the Nov. 3 midterm elections

7. Lindsay James of Iowa

A Presbyterian chaplain and four-term state representative, Lindsay James is the Democratic nominee for Iowa's 2nd Congressional District.

A mom of two and former interfaith chaplain, James won a seat in the Iowa State House in 2018 after flipping a long-held Republican seat and soon rose to House Minority Whip.

James is also backed by Vote Mama, a group which says its mission is to break down “structural barriers that keep moms out of office and [build] the kind of political power that actually reflects the realities of American family life.”
