6. Pastor Frederick Haynes of Texas

The Democratic nominee for the U.S. House seat in District 30, Frederick Haynes has been the Senior Pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas for over 40 years.

Haynes, who serves as pastor to outgoing Rep. Jasmine Crockett, once said he was inspired to run for Crockett’s seat after lawmakers redistricted the state and eliminated two majority-black U.S. House Districts.

Haynes announced his run for Congress about three months after he took a temporary break from his pulpit following an undisclosed medical diagnosis.
