Cleveland Cavaliers vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Preview

The Oklahoma City Thunder are looking to improve their spot at the Western Conference standing as they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 21st, Sunday afternoon at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown Oklahoma.

The said game would be the second encounter between the two teams. The first game happened on December 17th, when the Cavaliers hosted the game and won by a narrow 104-100 tally.

In the said game, superstar player LeBron James was once again responsible for the night's heroics, scoring 33 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds, playing through 39.6 minutes of action.

Big man Kevin Love helped him out by contributing 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals, playing through 32.5 minutes of action. The Cavaliers also managed to end up victorious despite the absence of three of their guards: Mo Williams who was out with a thumb injury, Iman Shumpert who was sidelined due to a groin injury, and Kyrie Irving.

For the Thunder, franchise player and main man Kevin Durant carried his team, piling in 25 points, three rebounds, and five assists, playing through 40.5 minutes of action. Assisting him was power forward Serge Ibaka, who scored 23 points, and piled in nine rebounds and one assist, playing through 38.2 minutes of action.

Guard Russell Westbrook also chimed in significant numbers with 27 points, 10 assists, three rebounds and three steals, playing through 34.5 minutes of action.

The Cavaliers have been on a four-game winnings streak so far, holding victories over the New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chicago Bulls, respectively. The Thunder, on the other hand, are 2-2 in their last four games against the defending champions Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, and Indiana Pacers, respectively.

The Cavaliers are currently situated at the top spot of the Eastern Conference standings with a win-loss slate of 39-14. The Thunder, on the other hand, are at the number three spot at the Western Conference standings with a record of 40-15.
