'Rainbow Six Siege' First DLC Delayed To February 2

Ubisoft's recently released shooter, "Rainbow Six Siege" will not be receiving its first downloadable content as scheduled on January 12. According to a report in Tech Times, the game's first DLC titled "Operation Black Ice" will be arriving three weeks late, on February 2, for Season Pass holders.

When Ubisoft released the game in December 2015, the publisher promised that players will be provided with four new DLC packs to keep them busy within 2016. Season pass holders of the game, according to the original release schedule, were supposed to receive the DLC on January 12. Ubisoft confirmed the news when it answered a question from a fan about when the DLC was going live.

As earlier announced, each of the new DLC packs will bring with it new maps, weapon skins and gadgets. It will also bring new operators who players can choose to play as. Details about the upcoming "Operation Black Ice" DLC are scarce – so far Ubisoft only said that it will bring two new operators and one new map. A Games Radar report said that the two operators will come from a new Counter-Terrorism Unit which will be added to the game.

According to Games Radar, the game had has its share of technical issues in December, barely a few weeks after its release. Dealing with these technical issues plus the holiday break may have had an impact on finishing new content, according to the report.

As season pass holders get one week early access for the DLC, this means that gamers without season passes will only be able to unlock new content a week after and only after paying $4.99 for 600 R6 credits or using in-game currency.

Tech Times also reported that the game received a major update recently which improved hit-detection and the automated system for banning teamkillers, which was a persistent issue since the game's open beta.
