Emily Maynard 'Completely Dependent' on In-Laws Before 'Bachelorette'?

Before she became the "Bachelorette," was Emily Maynard completely dependent on her in-laws? New reports allege that Maynard's relatives not only got her a job after her fiancé was killed, but secretly offered to pay for that job so she would have an income.

After Maynard's fiancé, NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, was killed in a plane crash, she was left alone and pregnant. Hendrick's parents then decided to help Maynard and their future grandchild in any way possible.

"Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick both donated and raised a lot of money for the Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, so one day Rick went in and asked his close friend, who was one of his bosses, if they would give Emily a job," a family friend told Radar Online.

"But Emily didn't have the proper advanced degrees on her resume and wasn't as accomplished as she needed to be to secure a position there, so, as a sweetener, Mr. Hendrick offered to secretly pay her salary on the behalf of the hospital. Eventually Emily went on to 'The Bachelor' and never went back to work at the hospital after that," the source revealed.

But Maynard's life drastically changed when she was selected as a contestant for the ABC series. Unfortunately, her relationship with Brad Womack did not last long, but Maynard was then chosen to have her own season of "The Bachelorette." Controversy ensued since Maynard chose to have her daughter Ricki be a part of the series. The Hendricks were apparently not happy to have their granddaughter exposed on TV.

Now, Maynard has broken off her engagement to Jef Holm and is busy preparing for the next stage of her life. Thanks to ABC, she has a variety of job offers, including returning for another season of "The Bachelorette" or, as has been rumored, "Dancing With The Stars." The latter would require a move to California and a separation from the Hendricks that they reportedly do not want.
