Georges St-Pierre News: Former UFC Welterweight Champion Lands Hosting Job for Dinosaur Television Show

Former long-time UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has been keeping himself busy through his indefinite hiatus.

While he currently has his fighting career on hold, "GSP" has decided to pursue another one of his long-time passions: paleontology.

In a 2010 report by Lynn Hopes for ESPN, St-Pierre declared his passion for the said branch of science, while noting how he is more of a nerd than a sports buff.

"Seriously, I'm into paleontology," St-Pierre said. "That's the study of prehistoric life. I'm into philosophy. And psychology, too. You know that the Tyrannosaurus Rex was found with feathers? Yes, feathers!"

In the said report, St-Pierre also says he has less friends who are fighters, and more friends who are "nerds". He also offered an explanation as to why he is not romantically linked to any woman.

"That's why I have a hard time finding a girlfriend," St-Pierre explains. "I need someone to talk science with."

Six years later, it seems like St-Pierre will be able to fulfill his other passion, after all. In a report by FOX Sports, the 34-year old professional mixed martial artist was tapped to host a new television series in his home country of Canada, through the History Channel.

Entitled "The Boneyard with Georges St-Pierre", the show will be revolving on the fighter's quest to track down the remains of dinosaurs in strategic places around the globe. St-Pierre will be visiting South Dakota, Alabama, and Argentina's dinosaur graveyard, Patagonia.

In another report by Bloody Elbow, St-Pierre hopes to "come face-to-face with a living dinosaur" and visit a "top secret triceratops burial ground."

The said two-part special will be making its debut on April 14th.

St-Pierre last saw action in the UFC Octagon last November 2014, against former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks at UFC 167. The fight ended in controversial fashion, when St-Pierre emerged victorious via split decision, despite being battered and beat up by Hendricks.

He currently holds a record of 25-2, with 13 victories by stoppage.
