Matt McGloin Hospitalized In Penn State Fight

Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin reportedly suffered a seizure and was hospitalized this weekend after a locker-room fight with teammate Curtis Drake.

McGloin was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center on Saturday to be treated for a seizure and is said to have likely suffered a concussion. After a thorough check-up he was released from the hospital later on Saturday.

The fight took place following a Penn State football practice session. According to the Patriot-News, McGloin’s father has reported that a CT scan and MRI were negative.

The incident comes just a day following Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary testifying at a preliminary hearing to decide whether Tim Curley and Gary Schultz would stand trial for perjury in relation to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Controversies have been consistent since the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke, and Penn State athletic department released a statement following the incident saying it would be examining the circumstances of what happened.

The statement read: “Campus police and Penn State’s Office of Judicial Affairs will investigate the incident and report results as they would for any other student in an incident on campus.”

Despite McGloin’s seizure, concussion and hospitalization, Drake’s mother, Chante Smith-Roberson, has reportedly told the Patriot-News: “Everything’s fine. This is no big deal. (Drake’s) doing fine, and I think everything’s fine. People don’t need to make this a big deal, given all that is going on up there.”
