UFC 197 News: Jon Jones Calls Injured Daniel Cormier a 'Coward', New Twitter War Ensues

Despite having the fight called off, reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and his challenger former champion Jon Jones are still going at it through social media.

"DC" was forced out of the bout late last week, after suffering a leg injury during training. The UFC was then forced to make a new main event bout for UFC 197 on April 23rd in Las Vegas.

This time around, Jones will be facing number six-ranked light heavyweight contender Ovince Saint Preux for the interim title, instead.

Cormier did apologize to UFC executives and Jones himself for pulling out of the fight. He also offered to help Saint Preux in his preparation for Jones, in which the latter had declined. Apparently, the said offer did not sit well for "Bones", who in turn branded Cormier for being a "coward".

"Him inviting OSP to his training camp shows me that he's so grateful that he's not fighting me in three weeks," Jones said in a Bloody Elbow report. "That he's so grateful that he gets to have one more family photo-op with that belt, because he knows that he's not going to beat me, especially now with a knee injury."

It did not take long before Jones' response reached Cormier. The champion was quick to respond to the "coward" accusations through a series of tweets, mainly pointing out how Jones "ran from the crime scene" during the hit-and-run incident the latter was involved in last April.

He also argued how he never threw the same accusations when Jones himself pulled out of their first bout in 2014, which was then forced to be moved to January 2015.

Of course, Jones was not one to have his opponent get the last say on the matter. In his own series of tweets, the UFC's youngest light heavyweight champion threw more disses towards Cormier.

"Change your tampon, ice your shinsplints and but ready for UFC 200. My practice is starting, I'll check in later for this answer of yours," one of his tweets reads.
