UFC 200 News: Ex-Featherweight Champion José Aldo Claims He Beat Frankie Edgar 'Using One Arm' During Their First Fight in 2013

The co-main event of UFC 200 will feature a rematch between top featherweight contenders: former long-time 145-pound champion José Aldo and former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

The said event will be taking place on July 9th, at the newly built T-Moblie Arena in Las Vegas. The two men will be fighting for the interim featherweight world title, and a shot at undisputed champion Conor McGregor.

Both Aldo and Edgar have already faced each other at UFC 156 in February 2013, in which the former had won by unanimous decision.

In a report by MMA Fighting, judges Adelaide Byrd, Jeff Collins, and Junichiro Kamijo all scored the bout for the Brazilian fighter, with the scores of 49-46, 48-47, and 49-46, respectively. For his part, Edgar says he should have been given the judges' nod.

Aldo simply laughed off "The Answer's claims", during a media scrum in Brazil (as reported by Bloody Elbow).

"Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? No way. I haven't watched it anymore because I know I easily won that," Aldo said. "I won that only with my left arm. I don't know where he saw that."

"You can say he won the fifth round and that's it, but I won the other four," he continued. "I won, no doubt."

Edgar has since won all of his fights, against the likes of B.J. Penn, Cub Swanson, and Chad Mendes, just to name a few. After his win over Mendes in December via first round knockout, he was promised a shot at the featherweight title.

However, things never went his way, after McGregor opted to delay his featherweight title defense and fight at a heavier weight class instead.

According to Aldo, he has nothing but respect for Edgar, but at the same time, says he has not seen any sign of evolution on the part of his opponent.

"He has adapted to the division, but I don't see an evolution," Aldo said. "He continues doing the same game, same movement. I respect him, but I'm capable of getting there and winning."
