UFC News 2016: Officer Who Pulled Jon Jones Over For Drag Racing Received Previous Complains About Racial Profiling

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is currently in hot water after another traffic-related infraction.

"Bones" was pulled over by Albuquerque police officer Jason Brown, and was given five citations for drag racing, failure to maintain traffic lane, improper display of registration plate, exhibition driving, and use of modification of exhaust systems.

Irate by the situation, Jones let out his frustrations towards Brown, which led to a heated verbal argument between the two. As caught by the body camera strapped on Brown, Jones was seen calling the police officer a "pig" and an "absolute f-----g liar".

Five days after the said incident, Jones was arrested for probation violation, but chose to maintain his innocence on the said case. Last week, Jones attorney Nancy Hollander entered a not guilty plea in behalf of her client, stating that Brown may have profiled him.

"We intend to fight these traffic violations," Hollander said. "We believe that they're bogus. We believe that he was profiled."

Apparently, Hollander's claims about profiling may not be that far-fetched after all. A recent Instagram video posted by Jones showed a news report in Albuquerque about Brown being on the receiving end of racial profiling complaints.

And for his part, Jones says he is "not necessarily surprised" about the said allegations.

"Having him stand there, look me in the eyes and start accusing me of several things him and I both know I didn't do made me feel let down by the community, made me feel powerless, he made me feel like what was actually true had no power over him," an excerpt of Jones' lengthy post reads.

The 28-year old fighter adds that the incident made him understand why people hold resentment towards police officers, adding Officer Brown "almost single-handedly" ruined his trust in law enforcement.

Jones is scheduled to make his UFC return after a year-long layoff at UFC 197 on April 23rd in Las Vegas, against number six-ranked light heavyweight contender Ovince Saint Preux.
