Washington Wizards vs. Golden State Warriors Preview: Wizards Aiming for Last Playoff Spot Against League-Leading Warriors

The ninth-seeded Washington Wizards are looking to rack up more victories to snag the last playoff spot as they face the defending champions Golden State Warriors.

The second game between both teams will be taking place on Tuesday, March 29th, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. The first time Washington and Golden State met was in February, where the Warriors were able to snag their eighth straight victory, winning with a final score of 134-121.

In said game, reigning Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry proved why he is the league's current number one player, dropping 51 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals, shooting 19 out of 28 from the field, through 35 minutes of playing time.

Curry's numbers were also career-defining for him, as he was able to tie the record set by former Washington Wizards players Gilbert Arenas and the great Michael Jordan for scoring 50 points twice at the Verizon Center in Washington.

Guard Klay Thompson also contributed major numbers, scoring 24 points, along with four rebounds, through 33 minutes of playing time. The Wizards currently hold a win-loss record of 36-37 as they are situated right below the eighth-seeded Detroit Pistons.

Situated right below them at the Eastern Conference standings are the Chicago Bulls, who hold the same win-loss slate. And for superstar guard John Wall, it is more about racking up as many victories as possible to put the team in a situation where they themselves would be in control.

"Detroit has a tough schedule. Other guys have a tough schedule. All we can do is control our own destiny, try to win as many games as we can," Wall said in an NBA.com report. "We've got the tiebreaker against Detroit and Chicago, and plus we play Detroit one more time. We've just got to take care of our own business first."

The Warriors still hold the league's current best record, with a win-loss slate of 66-7.
