'Wreck-It Ralph 2' Coming in 2018 Titled 'Ralph Breaks the Internet'

Yet another big CinemaCon announcement was made last March 28, and it was the reveal of the official title and release date of a sequel for Disney's 2012 animated film, "Wreck-It Ralph."

The Oscar-nominated film's sequel will be known as "Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2," and it is scheduled for release on March 9, 2018.

Director Rich Moore, who also directed the first movie, said in a statement that the production team is working very hard to design a world that is all too familiar with everyone - the internet. He added that the design will be shown in a "whole new, imaginative way."

"To take these characters we love and have them enter the enormous world of the internet has given us so much to explore," Moore also said in the statement.

Furthermore, the original characters and voice actors from the first movie will be returning to the sequel, which includes John C. Reilly (Ralph), Jack McBrayer (Fix-It Felix), Sarah Silverman (Vanellope von Schweetz) and Jane Lynch (Sergeant Calhoun).

There will be new characters added in the sequel as well, but no exact details were given yet. "We're so excited to be working with Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz, Fix-It Felix and Sergeant Calhoun again, and we have new characters we look forward to unveiling," says movie co-writer Phil Johnston, according to ComingSoon.

Johnston also shared that the premise of the sequel will still revolve around Ralph and Vanellope's friendship, much like the first one.

The first "Wreck-It Ralph" grossed over $471.2 million worldwide and became the fourth highest grossing film in 2012.

The animated movie was also received well, with an 86 percent rating from Rotten Tomatoes and several nominations and wins in different film fest awards. These include the Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Animated feature, and five Annie Award wins, among others.
