Casey Anthony Trial: Judge Backs $100K Claim for Wasted Search Costs for Caylee

A judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed against Casey Anthony seeking to recoup $100,000 for the time and expense of conducting a nationwide search for Anthony’s two-year-old daughter Caylee.

The massive search for Caylee was sparked by Anthony’s claims with regards to the disappearance of her daughter; saying that a fictitious nanny had kidnapped her. She later admitted that she had lied in those claims; making the extensive search one big wild-goose-chase.

The search was one of the most expensive in the 11-year history of the organization, and its representatives are furious that Anthony led them on in such a way, whilst all the time knowing that Caylee was already dead.

Judge Lisa Munyon was told by Texas EquuSearch lawyer Marc Wites: “'Resources were allocated here instead of to other families who had a missing person.”

Although Anthony was acquitted of her daughter Caylee’s murder she has become one of the most hated figures in America following a highly publicized trial. The public was shocked when Anthony’s lawyers suddenly revealed in the trial that the mother had known all along that her daughter had drowned in a swimming pool at the rear of the family house.

Anthony has already been told to reimburse law enforcement agencies for $217,500 following the wasted expense in trying to search for Caylee and the fictitious Zanny the nanny.

Another civil lawsuit is currently being put against Anthony by a woman called Zenaida Gonzalez. A woman with the same name as that the one Anthony gave to police to explain who had kidnapped her daughter. Gonzalez says that the claims ruined her life as many people believed she had abducted Caylee as the search for the girl was conducted.
